Esther's Story
Life
I graduated from Bassett HS in 1971 and entered college the same year. During my college years I became an EMT, working my way through college as an Emergency Room Technician, in Valencia and Newhall Ca. In 1977 I graduated from Cal State University Northridge with a B.A, in Psychology. Shortly after I moved to Riverside County to join my parents and began work as a Substance Abuse Counselor for the County of Riverside.
I worked in the field of Chemical Dependency for both government and private agencies until 1989. In 1990 I transitioned into a career as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with a Fortune 500 company, AIG. I worked for another Rehab company in West LA until 1996 when I established my own Vocational Rehabilitation company, Workplace Consultants.
Currently I am an independent Federal Contractor for Department of Labor and recently for Veteran's Affairs. I provide vocational rehabilitation counseling services to Federal workers injured in the workplace through the Department of Labor. While contracting with the Veteran Affairs, I worked with service-connected disabled veterans under Chapter 31 VR&E Services for employment services.. Over Thirty-five years of professional experience in Rehabilitation Counseling, Job Development, Training, Employment, Marketing, Employee Assistance Progrm Placement counseling and Consulting experience. Experienced and Certified in Disability Management (CPDM), I am a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a Professional Member of the American Counseling Association, International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals, the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association and the California Association of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors. I hold a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.. Someday I would like the opportunity to work in DC and be instrumental in implementing positive changes to the VA's Mental Health System for treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder..
I take pride in serving our veterans as my Father was a Korean Veteran. In 1990 we discovered he had been a POW. He began treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder at the VA and was well served at the VA up to his death in 2005, may he rest in peace.
My home is in Riverside, CA. with my dogs Sadie, Chin Chin. and London.
