Helmut's Story
I guess I should try and tell something about me. After I graduated from Burges High in 1961, I decided to do something exciting and joined the Army - at the time we had the Cuba Crisis. But it had no affect on me (I don't think) Following Basic Training and AIT at Ft. Ord, CA, and a second AIT at Ft Eustus, I was shipped to Germany (where I originally came from) and was station in the fabulous city of München (Munich for all who don't know). During my tenure I carried the rank of PVT, PFC, and SP4 twice (all three of them). I was discharge in 1964 (Honorable Discharge - DD Fm 214), and, ...Expand for more
after a short stay of about 6 or 7 weeks in El Paso, I returned to Germany to live. I was married in 1963, have 3 children (all Girls), one of which died when she was 14. As I said, I was married in 63 and am still married - to the same woman. I in '64, following my return to Germany, I started working as a civilian for the Military. starting out as a general clerk until 1966, when I went to work for the Military Police as a desk interpreter. From 1982, unitl I retired in 2006, I worked as a Local Naitional Criminal Investigator for CID. Now I'm retired, felling extremely well and happy.
