Carey's Story
Well, my friends, the saying jack of all trades and master of none certainly fits. Somehow managed to matriculate through college. Married twice, both wonderful women, they just got tired of my ##$$! Have a son (Shane) now 33 and a great kid! I have lived in Arkansas,Louisiana,Massachusettes,New York,Oklahoma, and Texas--so far! Managed to earn a living doing everything from selling cars to teaching algebra and geometry. In between that Oil field work, and of course, music, gambling, drinking and writing.Completed first novel last year and even have an agent in N.Y. Haven't heard from the man in months! Guess that about does it for the writing deal hugh? My best to each of you and I hope your trip on this big blue marble has been as much fun as mine. Best wishes Carey. * * * March 01,2010 - - - **The Rising Suns** inducted into Kansas Music Hall of Fame 2007. Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2010. We traveled thousands of miles all over the U.S.A. to have had that privilege was fantastic. To have played with the late great Walter Downing was a blessing. Wow, we played with Jimmy Page/The Yard Birds from England, Rufus and Carla Thomas-R&B greats,we drank beer at a club in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with a then unknown group from Il. that was soon to become "Chicago" I traveled to Boston to join the Red Dogs and the late Kent Leopold only to find them calling it quits and scattering to all parts of the globe. Two years teaching music lessons and playing with various groups in Boston and from there to New York and meeting and hanging out with Laura Nyro, not many would know that she was Blood Sweat & Tears first choice to be their lead singer--they had to settle for David Clayton Thomas! ! not a bad second choice hugh? I'd say it worked out OK for them. Another story for another time? It was a ball, and it still seems like only yesterday? Move over "Peter Pan" you ain't got nothing on this kid when it comes to not growing up. "Lead your life--don't let your life lead you"
