Carl's Story

The years have passed by quickly and as I get older they seem to be passing even quicker. I am 73 now and not much desire to retire and do nothing, although as the work days pass by I must admit it gets more tempting. Worked for many years at Xerox and retired from the big X in 2005, sat around for about 3 months acting like I was retired and hated every moment of doing nothing. There is only so much Golf one can play, or my other hobby Ham Radio, before I got restless. So, I went back to school and got a degree in Information Technology, and currently work for an IT company out of Dallas in the N.E Ohio area. Working on Servers, Cisco switches, Laptops, Desktops and almost anything connected. I always loved going to school, I just hated doing the homework. I always have loved learning something new and how it worked and being around computers since the mid 1970's, IT seemed to be the next logical adventure. After East I joined the NAVY (GO! NAVY) and spent 4 years in communications as a Radiomen, Enjoying Morocco, the Caribbean, North Africa and Southern Europe Then 3 years at B.F Goodrich then Sieberling Tire in Barberton as a Foreman, and when that plant closed I moved to Houston, Texas (1981) a city I still to this day love as part of my life's adventure. My wife never enjoyed Houston as much as I did, so we moved back to Ohio (1995) and we now live in Canal Fulton. At the time our parents needed us as they aged, and I figured it was our turn to take care of them, as they had done for us in our growing years. S...Expand for more
usan and I have a daughter who lives in Kentucky near Cincinnati, One son lives in Cuyahoga Falls unfortunitly living on his own a good man and hard worker his marriage did not last but if he does find another lady she will get a good man, the other son lives in Ellet married to a beautiful young lady named Michelle and one son named Nolan, cute as the dickens and named after his baseball hero Nolan Ryan, baseball has always been the sports center of my life that and Golf. Must of had something to do with waving a stick at something LOL.. I have always stressed to our children that family is the one and only constant anyone can depend on in life, as my parents once stressed in my younger years.and that Christ will always love and protect you. It must have sunk in as two of the three moved from Houston to be near us. Who said kids can't learn. They have also made us proud grandparents of 5 grandchildren, the latest being Nico Greyson who just joined our family.and three great babies. Who would have thought that back in 1968. I hope I did not bore those who read this and wish all who do, God's grace and peace with a slice of happiness, in CHRIST'S name, especially the whole class of 1968, East High school. .. Just one prayer before I end this:. Dear GOD please don't let Brussell Sprouts be the cure for any illness Amen..LOL P.S I finally retired my wife needed me at home to take care of her as she has some challenges to overcome. I have been blessed with her for 51+ years.and hope it continues for as long as the Lord is willing.
