Carl's Story
The long and winding road, wow, I graduated from High School in time to become a wandering hippie. I meditated with Buddhists, danced with Hare Krishnas, praised God with "Jesus Freaks," and worked to bring in the Age of Aquarius with the new agers. I tried them all. I felt like Mulder searching for the truth. Now, after forty plus years of still wandering in the wilderness, I have come to the conclusion--all religions work for those that believe. To the outsider, or, like me, the doubter, none of them make perfect sense. So, my search continues.
I made my money working in various aspects of construction. In my late thirties, I went to college and got a BA in Sociology with a minor in Religious Studies. People told me that it was difficult to make any money in sociology--they were right. Now, at sixty three years old, I quit volleyball for tennis. I quit construction, or more accurately, the economy caused me to have lots of time off. I'm putting my education to use finally. I'm writing fiction stories about my adventures--mostly about people's search for truth and meaning. I hope to e-publish a satire on creation and the Bible in the near future.
I'm married and living in Northern California now. I know, I know, some of you woman were hoping I was still single. Along with playing tennis and writing, I pick at a guitar now again. I love running and hiking in the Sierras. My favorite spot is Tuoloumne Meadows in Yosemite.
Sorry about my memories about high school. I've blocked them out. No, not really. I was on the gymnastic team a couple of years and spent most of my academic time day dreaming. My senior year was spent going to the beach and to dances--for some reason my grades plummeted. Anyway, It's good to hear from all of you.
Thanks, Carl
