In Summer '69 moved to Jonesboro, LA and attended Jonesboro-Hodge High School graduated in '73. Attended Jonesboro First Baptist Church. Went to La Tech in Electrical Engineering. Started attending North Hodge Assembly of God where I met my wife, Sonya Phillips, and we married in '78. (we are now married 34 years) In '98 we moved to Crossett, AR following my career and ended up in a fantastic church - Freedom Ministries. We have one son who is married and we now have 3 beautiful grandchildren.
Career wise I have been pursuing an electrical technical career working with controls, engineering, PLCs, etc. Worked in the oilfield in the mid 80's as electrician and later as electrical supt for Penrod Drilling. Left there and managed electrical engineering group out of Monroe, LA. Followed by working 10 years in Paper Mill adding instrumentation and DCS experience. Now I have been working for Transocean Offshore (formerly Global Marine) now as Electrical and controls specialist out of their corporate office in Hous...Expand for more
ton. We still reside in Crossett, AR.
UPDATE MAY 2017
I lost the love of my life Sonya, to cancer December 2013. But Jesus was with us everyday and gave her peace and joy every day. Following this went back to work mostly overseas in Norway and some in Houston. Then while finishing up a 6 week series of equipment test I suddenly got weak. I had been hiking almost everyday the weather permitted and then couldn't walk up a flight of stairs. Went to ER in Norway. Found I had an aggressive Leukemia and was given 2 days to 2 weeks to live. They shipped me to Oslo that night and started chemo the next day. Built my blood up that weekend so they could fly me to MD Anderson Houston. Monday night I was in a bed at MDA Houston on Leukemia floor. 5 months later had stem cell transplant Dec 2015. Been getting blood and platelets started 4x/week about 8 months ago down to 2 units 2x/wk and since just a few weeks ago is the first time that I didn't need any additional blood. Thank God doing better. Still very weak and hoping to get to visit home soon. God is so good and so thankful for the thousands of prayers lifted for me the last 2 years. My life has literally been in His hands daily.
