Carl's Story
Born in Little Rock, Arkansas while my father was serving with the Army Air Corps in India. Dad discharged from the service, but rejoined a few years later. Then my military dependent career started. From Little Rock, we moved to Great Falls AFB, Mt; Lowery AFB, Co; Mather AFB, Ca, back to Little Rock as Dad was sent to Korea; Davis Monthan AFB, Az, Royal Air Force Station West Drayton (near London); then McCoy AFB, Fl. Graduated from Oak Ridge in 1963, and joined the USAF in July of 1963,
I completed basic at Lackland AFB, Tx and was sent to Lowery AFB, Co for Munitions Maintenance School. From there, Nellis AFB, Nv, Takhli AB, Thailand, right back to Nellis then to Korat AB, Thailand. My next assignment was to Morbach, Germany; followed by Davis Monthan AFB, Az, Osan AB, Korea; Hill AFB, Ut; Anderson AFB, Guam; Luke AFB, Az; Eielson AFB, Alaska, George AFB, Ca; and finally Hill AFB, Ut. While at Hill AFB, I was given a new assignment, but after 27 years, I elected to retire, which I did as a Chief Master Sergeant.

While in the Air Force, I earned an A.S. and an A.A. After retirement, and working full-time, I used the GI bill and completed my B.S. from Park College and my M.A. from the University of Phoenix.
I worked for the defense industry for the past 21 years, and then retired from that this past November 1.
I am married and have one son who completed his college degree after high school. He now lives near Dallas, and is doing very well.
I am enjoying my retirement. I am now able to spend more time at the gym (my weight is under Air Force standards), on the golf course(s), at the library, and enjoying life.
Other plans I have for retirement include: learning a new language, re-learning ball room dancing, take some non-credit college classes, hope to travel to Europe next year, and anything else that sounds fun. I have also placed my resume and application at one of the local golf courses for the next season. I enjoy work, but I want to do something I really enjoy.
An Oak Ridge reunion would be fun, and something I would be interested in assisting with. Living in Utah would be difficult to organize and manage from such a distance.
