Carl's Story
Here's what happened to me in the short 50 years since graduating from Mclain. I went to the University of Denver on a wrestling scholarship. After one year I signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates and left school to go play baseball. That was 1963, and by 1966 they figured out that I wasn't good enough at any position and sent me packing.
I then worked five years as an electrician before an oil company offered me a job selling fuel products. So a year later I started my own oil business. We built the first oil tanks at the port of Catoosa and we had a great run of luck for the next 15 years.
But alas, I made some serious investment mistakes, including buying the Tulsa Roughnecks, and finally went broke and had to start all over again.
Well it took me a few years to figure it all out again but I must say I've been very lucky and thankful for such a full life. I've truly had a great adventure and have traveled to over 70 countries.
My family: I have a 41 year old son: Joe-Max and a 29 year old daughter: Leigh., and I have four grandchildren.
Now for what I'...Expand for more
m most proud of since seeing you last.
My son, Joe-Max, played in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and was the "Wide World of Sports" Athlete of the Week for his game winning goal, for the gold medal, in the final against Mexico in the Pan American Games. He later represented the United States 100 times in international competition and played in 3 World Cups in Soccer. He is the all-time leading midfield scorer for the United States.
My hobbies are playing golf and riding cross country motorcycle trips. It's a good thing I ride a motorcycle better than I play golf. I've managed to keep the motorcycle out of the woods.
I now live in Franklin Tennessee and invite anyone that I went to school with to please call me if you're in the Nashville area. My number is 615-300-7547. You're welcome to stay in our home and I know every country market around here plus I can show you some good ole country music hangouts.
We're really looking forward to the 50th reunion and hope we get to see and catch up with everyone there.
Now, tell me about yourself. Your old friend, Carl
