Carla's Story
Lived in Los Angeles while going to school, then moved to Houston to work for Continental Airlines. I didn't like Houston so I headed back to Ohio to take a position at Miami University in 1985. I really enjoy my job(s) at Miami where I work with the development & marketing office and also run the graphics lab. Currently, I'm putting together a $100 a plate Gala, which is a lot of fun--I love spending other people's money!! :-)
Love to travel and have been lucky enough to visit all the states except Alaska and Maine. Lake Tahoe, Nevada is one of my favorite places and I go there quite a bit. I also visit Los Angeles a lot as part of my free lance writing job and have interviewed several actors, directors and producers. One of my favorite interviews was with actor Bruce Dern--he's very intelligent and quite the talker!! Joan Van Ark is another one that was really fun to interview. I never get tired of hanging out in Malibu--you never know who you might run into.
Other places I've been fortunate enough to visit include Europe, Canada, Mexico, South America, and the Middle East (twice). Got shot at in Israel and had nine armed body guards in Egypt but managed to get out of both places without a scratch. :-) You haven't lived until you ride a camel across the desert! Hope to visit Australia and New Zealand soon.

iends of mine. She's had the opportunity to meet several well-known actors...including Lou Diamond Phillips and Patrick Cassidy...and she asks lots of questions because she wants to be on Broadway some day. She's already performed on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry and on a cruise ship.
Took another niece to Los Angeles where we attended two parties--one the birthday party of a television producer and the other in Studio City at a friend's house. She loved hob-nobbing in Beverly Hills!
One of my nephews went along on a trip to Washington, D.C. where he got to meet several political leaders. That's when he decided that our country is run by a bunch of 25 year olds!!
On another trip to DC just this year, we stayed at The Willard Hotel. Among the guests staying there was the President of Vietnam, the President of the Philippines and the President of Iraq. As you can image, security was extremely tight, but it was kind of fun watching the Secret Service and FBI agents work. I have one nephew who is currently being considered for an FBI position--he has his Master's in Criminal Justice. (His younger brother is a geo-hydrologist, but is currently working in television.) One of the most interesting things to watch was the snipers on top the White House roof. There was a reception going on for the President of the Philippines so the SS were everywhere.
That's just some of the things I managed to get into over the years. What have you been up to?
