Carlos's Story

Probably like the rest of you, it's been pretty interesting and for the most part a fun journey, well at least it's been that way with me. High school was a blur, I couldn't wait to get out and start my life in the work force, music industry, college, which I started, stopped and then restarted again. Not to get into detail, I did become a professional musician and did it for several years. Went back to school to finish up a degree which frankly, didn't help in the least but I did love college and it did offer me some contacts I wouldn't have had. If someone could pay me a few hundred thousand a year to go to college, I would take it in a second! After going back and getting away from the music industry, I became involved in real estate. First as a Realtor and now as a developer (buy parcels of land, have my contractors build houses and make money, woo hoo!) along with owning a couple of real estate companies, a mortgage and escrow company. This business has afforded me a lot of great things; owning property in OC, LA, San Bernardino and San Diego counties among other places is pretty cool and profitable and I like toys but who doesn't? Now I'm looking for something else to entertain myself with. Any ideas? Lol! Life is pretty cool and frankly, though I expected to be succesfull (some of you who knew me in high school probably are thinking, is this the same guy! :)) I guess I didn't anticipate that it would be to this degree. I have definitely taken what many would call "Risks" but being "Comfortable" in a job never suited me and I had to be my own boss. Personally I have 2 great kids going to college right now, a boy and a girl if you are the nosy type. They are going to be fine and have choices on following their passion (which I eventually did but it was a tough road) wi...Expand for more
thout as many headaches. My daughter is setting up a non-profit art gallery. She will get her bachelors in a few months and since art is her passion, she decided to go this route. My son is a freshman and has many options also. Smart but a little lazy like most 17 year olds, but extremely talented in the music field. An amazing drummer who has been offered to play on CD's. School First, music later. As far as my social life, I am divorced and though there were some good moments, I've moved on and things are good; having fun and enjoying new relationships. Get in touch with me if you like live music, especially by unknown bands (I will get back to playing professionally in 3 years when I may not need to work, maybe live in Chicago for a couple of months and play the blues :)), wine tasting in Paso, Santa Barbara, Napa or even Temecula, if you are a poor golfer or a good one that provides lessons and is patient, shoot an ocassional hoop, like baseball (I have Dodger season tickets), take a quick trip to Pechanga for a drink or Vegas for March madness or just to chill and have a drink. Since I do have quite an expertise on all aspects of the real estate end, especially land development, and financing, If a question arises, send me an email and I'll try to help. If you are still able to read this, Lol, I'm glad your doing well and have good vision. :) NEW ANNOUNCEMENT DATED 11-28-09: Hope you all had a nice thanksgiving. I am organizing a trip to Paso Robles wine festival which is the 3rd week in May. It's a 2 day event and there is great music, food, and about 100 wineries in the area. I spoke with John Bradley who graduated from BG and lives in Paso Robles and, he liked the idea. If you're interested contact me and we'll exchange emails and phone numbers. Ciao. C C Diaz
