Carlotta's Story
Back in 1974, I was hired on as a Flight Attendant for Delta Air Lines. It didnât take me long to mesh my love of sports with my job. In my first year of flying, I worked an AJ Foyt charter to the Indy 500 and got to go to the race. It was then I discovered there was more to car racing than my little brother going go-carting. While based in Houston, I became a hockey fan while laying over in Portland, Maine which was home to one of the Philadelphia Flyers farm teams. I also worked several flights for the Houston Aeros hockey team. Later in my career, I was a regular on the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox charters. In addition, I worked ones for the Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees and LA Dodgers. When my Supervisor tried to woo me into Management, I delayed the move for one year as I would have to give up charter flying. I did finally put my feet on the ground my last 8 years with Delta.
I retired and relocated to the Texas Hill Country after a career with Delta Air Lines spanning over 30 years. I held as many âjobsâ as the number of years we lived there â worked at a camp, receptionist in a travel center, meet and greet at a fitness center, assisted two VPs at an airplane manufacturer (and where my husband worked on the assembly line which built a turbo-prop for NASCAR champion Matt Kenseth), database management for a home plans designer, updated âback doorâ websites for several organizations and On-Air âSide-Kickâ/Sportscaster for a radio station. I organized the first Bark For Life in Texas, a canine fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and chaired the event for the several years. In my spare time, one of my dogs and I volunteered doing Canine Literacy at an elementary school, Canine Education at preschools and visi...Expand for more
ting nursing homes and health rehabilitation facilities. It was at the radio station I gave birth to the âLotta Sports name for my identity. Nicknamed as C'Lotta during my Delta days, it seemed a fitting choice. In summer 2012, I was contacted by Hill Country Happenings magazine about writing a monthly sports column. (It wasn't the first time I had written. For several years, I wrote for about.com recapping Wednesday shows for the former ABC Soap, One Life to Live.) Each month I try to entertain with my stories about life experiences in sports. This website is home for my columns.
In January of 2013, we relocated back to the DFW area, a playground for many sports I enjoy. In addition to my own Facebook page, I have created the Lotta Sports Facebook page which is meant to share sports stories and entertain. . I occasionally baton twirl and participated in several Spring Branch (Houston TX) Alumni halftime performances. Feel Good Times are playing Spades on Pogo.com where I am known as boxermomtx2. November 2013, life took an unexpected turn with an accident while walking one of my dogs. Two of my columns detail my experience. In January of 2015, I joined an internet radio station, offering my special take on sports as well as whatever leaves the mouths of my cohorts!! April 1, 2019 — We loaded up all our belongings in a moving van and moved to North Carolina — and that was no April fools — another sports paradise — home of NASCAR, Carolina Panthers, NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, tons of college basketball and minor league baseball.
I am in my 4th season with the Carolina Mudcats -- a minor league baseball team with the Milwaukee Brewers.
In addition to a passion for sports, my four-legged children — Boxers pups Katie and Jake — keep me on my toes!
