Carlton's Story

After leaving Hoopa High I would do a couple of years at Shasta College coming out with an AA in Machining in the spring of 1980. A few months after that I would move to Torrance, Ca (LA area) where I would spend the next 4 years learning the trade. As you can imagine LA got old pretty quick for a kid from an indian reservation. I would go to work for a place called China Lake Naval Weapons Center as a machinist the first working day of 1984. China Lake is in the upper Mojave desert between Bakersfield and Death Valley......hot as hell and butt ugly. I got to see a lot of stuff, was exposed to a large group of highly educated people and got paid to play with some very neat toys. Duri...Expand for more
ng my 11 years with the Navy as a civil servant I would again return to school for a many year effort to earn a 2 year education in Electronics which I finished at almost 40 years old with well over a B gpa. I 'll condense the story some and say that Lockheed Martin hired me before I graduated the ET program moving me to Fallon, NV as a electronics technician where I still live with my wife Christine and my 2 mini dachshunds Copper and Shadow. I didn't get around to having any kids of my own. I currently run a machine shop on an electronic warfare training range for a large defense subcontractor. John Mohon and I did an Alaskan motorcycle run early summer 2014. 4000 miles in 10 days.
