Carol's Story

Written July 9, 2009 I am really enjoying 2 of my visiting grandchildren from Czech. Danielle is 9 and Christian is 13. We have been 4 wheeling, playing washers, swimming in our pond, fishing, shopping, and indoors we have played cards, dominoes, train, 10,000 (farkle?), watched movies, and just plain ole laughing and visiting and staying up late and LOVING IT!!! They moved to Czech in 2001 where my daughter, Sherri teaches English and is a translator, etc. .... We don't see them often enough!! Sooo, when we do!! LOOK OUT!! ALL ON HOLD!!! Loving it.!! Written May 18, 2009 Hello all! UPDATE!! my baby girl, Leah, just graduated from Lamar LIT, radiology and will be joining the Navy Reserves..she will leave for Great Lakes in October and then her school for the Navy will be in VA. She will then return home to begin studying to become Dr. of Radiology at her earned gov't expense..through her earned Navy benefits. Now that she has graduated, I can sit on my couch which overlooks my acre pond through the patio doors and truly relax MORE!!! That's the last of my 5 babies, situated for life now. Thank you God. ------------------------------------ Our miracle story April 20, 2009 A long, MIRACULOUS story: To bring you up to date from the beginning of my husband, Charles Page¿s troubles last May. His story has a wonderful, miraculous ending. Charles Page was diagnosed with esophageal cancer last May (2008), when he was in the process of getting ready for 4-bypass heart surgery (which he had last June). At that time, they also found in the chest x-ray, a very large hietal hernia and an aneurism in his aorta. When he awakened from the endoscopy that looked at the hernia, he awakened in severe pain, passing kidney stones. Charles was scheduled for 9 weeks of radiation and chemo pills and chemo injections. Before he started any treatments, we invited prayerful friends to come to our home and pray for and with us; on two different occasions. Also, Charles had been anointed by Fr. Andy just before the heart surgery. During the entire 9 weeks, Charles passed 4 kidney stones, the last one being passed on the day of the last day of cancer treatment. When the radiation and chemo treatments were finished, Charles felt great and was given a period of rest in which he went on 3 hunting trips to the deer lease in West Texas. He attended an ¿anointing service¿ at the church before he left. Upon returning, all the tests were done again to see if the cancer tumors had shrunk, etc. He was then told that it appeared that the cancer was all in his lymph nodes close to the esophagus. If this were true, then they could not do surgery. Charles could not receive any more radiation, only possibly, chemo. Charles rejected this completely, insisting that he had felt the hand of God healing him during the Anointing service at the church and the prayer sessions at our house. The next week, his doctors had a meeting about his case, and his surgeon suggested to the other doctors that possibly the lymph nodes were still inflamed, still reacting to the radiation. So, they waited to see if the lymph nodes would settle ...Expand for more
down; and they did. Now then, surgery was again a possibility. He was taken to surgery, which would be 6-10 hrs. ; But, 2 hrs. after they had taken him to surgery, I was told they couldn¿t do the surgery. The doctor said that his esophagus was much worse than they thought and they¿d have to plan a different kind of surgery for it to hold. The new surgery (this time 10-14 hrs.)was scheduled for 3 weeks later. However, Charles agreed to have the surgery ONLY IF they would do another biopsy on the cancer spots and re-run tests again, insisting that he knew he had been healed BY THE HAND OF GOD during prayer twice and during the Anointing at the church. They agreed. Then Charles went to the hospital in Beaumont with severe pain, and found to have pancreatitis. He was in the hospital 4 days. Then he was sick again on Easter weekend. Now, it¿s time for the surgery. Packing to do, and planning to be gone for 2 weeks, at least.!! So, our minds are busy on things needing to be done in preparation for this little journey. We went to the pre-op instructions appt. (forgetting that we had results yet from the new biopsies and re-run tests). The doctor walks in and announces ¿NO SURGERY IS NECESSARY. YOU ARE DONE. THERE IS NO CANCER????? YOU GOT GOOD CONNECTIONS!!!¿ Charles says ¿I TOLD YOU THAT THE HAND OF GOD HAD HEALED ME!!!!¿ Dr. Swisher said ¿I don¿t compete with HIM!! As long as we get a cure, then we are happy.¿ (speaking for M D Anderson Hospital). A MIRACLE !! God is so good. We are still soaring with delight in the Lord. We prayed every day together, 3 times a day, at specified times, faithfully throughout this time since May 2008. We know that we are no more deserving and no more faithful and no more precious to the Lord than anyone else¿..And so, all the more ecstatic are we¿to receive such a huge blessing from our Lord and Savior.!!! We want to thank each and every one of you and those others you may have asked to pray for us during this time. Prayer does indeed change things. Charles¿ faith and trust never faltered. We are so thankful and appreciative of all of you. We have continued to pray and/or study God¿s word together, 3 times a day and we WILL gladly continue to do so because we are learning so much!! We just had to share our testimony with you, professing the Lord¿s mercy and such love. We do indeed have an AWESOME GOD. With love and much prayer, ------------------------------------- Written in Jan. 2009 I have 5 children. I just got back from Europe visiting 2 of my children and 6 of my grandchildren. My daughter, Sherri, is a single mom, teaching English in Czech Republic. My son, Damon, was stationed in the Navy in Sigonella, Sicily. He married an Italian girl, Diomy, and they now have 2 sons. It was a great visit. Damon has been in Sicily about 10 yrs. now and Sherri has been in Czech about 8 yrs. now; This was my fourth visit over there, and they have visited me several times also. The photo is myself on right with my oldest grandson, Christopher and his girlfriend, Zuska (Czech), and her friend. Get in touch. Let me know how you are too. Carol
