Carol's Story
Life
Ah, 1969 - a VERY good year. Still married to William Eddy. I am a registered nurse and retired in May 2017 from a very busy 500+ bed hospital in the Joint Replacement Center - Ortho, Med-surg unit. Mostly charge nursing, some staff nursing. William and I have 2 beautiful Granddaughters - Faith Nichole, 23 and Morgan Renee 22yrs. I'm still short and will turn 72 in May of 2023.. Sixteen years ago Bill suffered a heart attack and endured 8 hours of open heart surgery for a major 7 vessel repair. He is doing well and continues to work a part time consulting job. He retired officially in June 2017. Our lives are full and busy. Once we retired, we moved back to Green Bay to be closer to family We are thrilled to be home again! .Would love to hear from you.
One of my wishes is to hopefully see a lot of you at the next reunion. Bill and I both plan on being there.
If you're taking the time to look me up and read this -- leave me a note / message. I would love to hear from you.
I always wanted to be a stewardess for the airlines when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a far fetched idea. As it turns out, they were right. I'm way too short to reach the overhead bins!!! I became a cosmetologist and hairdresser first, which I had an interest in, but always wanted to be a nurse too. Unfortunately, our family couldn't afford the money for me to continue my education after high school but I never gave up on the idea of becoming a nurse. Once my son Sean was in college, Bill and I decided the time and financing was right - so I went back to school as an adult to finish my ed...Expand for more
ucation and became a registered nurse. It is something I will never regret doing. I truly love nursing!!!!
Some friends that I have reconnected with are Linda Fiez, Bonnie Huff and Kathie Barr. We all grew up in the same neighborhood, went to grade school and Auburn together. We have all been a "circle of 4" since childhood. Since we all celebrated being "60" 11 years ago, we all got together at my house for a long girls weekend that year and had such an entirely great, fun time that we plan on another get together soon. Their visit still brings a smile to my face - we laughed so much and totally enjoyed being together again!! It was such a special time for all of us.
One of my fondest memories of high school at Auburn was going to Connie's Pizza on Auburn St. after football games - I can still visualize one of the dyed black-haired waitresses chewing and snapping her gum while taking our order. When Bill was home recovering from open heart surgery, he burned a bunch of CD's with all the popular music from that time and labeled them "Connie's Pizza - disc 1,2,3 and 4". They are special songs that have meaning to this day and many fond memories of good friends and good times!!
Again-if you are taking the time to read this - please drop me a line - I would love to hear from you!!
I love sports - hockey is my most favorite (Go Bruins!!), football is my 2nd (Green Bay Packers are THE BEST!!), love to watch the Olympic games and sports, but really, really loathe reality shows (Kim K - REALLY????), Adore dogs - especially Yorkies - such personality! All of these things help to round out my world.
