Carol's Story
Hi, everyone. I still live in Ontario in the home I grew up in. I share my home with my mother which presents a dating challenge...she can't bring guys home and neither can I. So far, she's following the rules and things are going well for both of us. My oldest daughter, Lisa, lives in McCall with her son and 2 daughters, one of whom is enrolled in college in Boise. My second daughter, Shannon, lives in Ontario with her hubby, daughter and son. I work at a private, non-profit outpatient mental health clinic as Fiscal Program Manager. As part of my job, I coach a Relationship class at the jail one afternoon a week and at SRCI (prison) one eve a week and on another afternoon during the week, I teach Dave Ransey's Financial Peace classes at the jail. I have many interests besides hanging out at jail and prison and WalMart. I discovered quite a few years ago that I love being a passenger on a Gold Wing, the cadillac of bikes. I'm a gal who prefers comfort over the prestige of riding a Harley. Sometimes when things at work get too heavy, I find myself dreaming of standing on the roadside with my helmet in my hands, waiting for a Wing with an empty passenger seat to sail by......... Dream on! Drop me a note. I'd be delighted to hear from you.............ch
3/26/10 March is nearly over and my birthday was a month ago, but I just got my bday gift from my kids.....a tatoo. My riding buddy says it's the only thing I have that makes me a resemble a Harley girl. He has a Harley and says those girls have long legs-mine are too short and they have blonde hair-not gray and so I can't be a real Harley girl. So what does he know, anyway! I love the tatoo and since I've now been there, done that, I'm done!
10/14/11 Things have changed a lot since March 2010...Expand for more
. In June of that year, my boss said I was too controlling with the monies (I was the fiscal manager and I don't think that's such a bad thing), especially when you have to be accountable for grants and donations. She laid me off and then 3 days later Shannon's husband Joe was killed in a mining accident. I spent a couple of hours in the mornings with her for the next year as she opened Mallard's Grocery, I didn't want her to be there by herself. Afternoons are spent searching and applying for jobs. Guess for now I'm unemployed and retired and will just have to keep looking. A year and 3 days after we lost Joe, we lost Ron. Ron & I had married the same day we graduated from high school in 1964, divorced 22 years later. Ron valiantly fought cancer for about 4 years and found rest June 22, 2011. At the time, he was married to Judy Gardner from Boise, ID. Since life doesn't always turn out like we expect, I was surprised that during the course of their marriage, Judy and I became friends. She and I recently did a road trip to the coast and had a great time doing our best to keep the Oregon casinos in business. About 3 weeks ago, we welcomed a new great-grandson to our family. He and his mom live in McCall, so we'll be able to visit fairly often. Traiton belongs to Lisa's oldest daughter Chelsey, who is also continuing her college classes. Her Kayla is enrolled in college in Moscow, ID and Michael works in Washington with his dad. Shannon's KyLee is taking college classes and Zack is now a Sophomore in Ontario High. They grow up too fast! I certainly hope that 2012 will be a brighter year for all of us, but I'm voting for no more great-grandkids..
