Carol's Story

Life Since I left Japan, I've attended 1 1/2 years of college, gotten married, had 4 daughters, launched the daughters into the world, but not too far. All four leave within 20 miles of Tom and I here in Tacoma. I've done office work most of my working career and I'm now responsible for personnel and payroll at a mattress factory. I especially enjoy being able to assist the hard-working employees in using their benefit packages. My husband Tom is now retired and is providing great support for me at home. I'm probably the most pampered working woman I know. Aside from my hobbies of crocheting, reading, and my piano, I am especially interested in my computer equipment and the opportunities it has afforded me to reconnect with my friends from Yamato American Dependents High School. g annual trips back to North Carolina, where both my parents were born and died, and where my sister now lives. I've enjoyed the reunions of the Yamato Warriors that I have attended. It is a real treat to see where everyone has scattered and what each has accomplished. When I retire, I hope to have enough put aside to be able to continue to travel to many places. I really like having a secure home to return to, but I love the adventure of seeing new country. I suppose the Air Force experience with Dad is responsible for that. I also hope to take lessons and become a golf duffer in my retirement. I've had a little experience on the greens and felt the glee that a good shot can give you. The Yamato student I would most like to hear from is Katrina Wehking. I'm sure she has probably married by now. We had such good times together and her parents were terrific. There should be a whole lot more in this bio to account for my 60 years, but in many ways I am still that 18 years old who walked the loading platform at our alma mater.
