Carol's Story
I am a retired high school special education teacher. After college I married an Iowan - Kurt Vander Ploeg. He eventually went to U of Iowa Medical College and is now a retired family physician in Pella, Iowa near his hometown. We have four daughters and 9 grandchildren (5 boys and 4 girls ages 8-18).

e school and thanks to Viriginia Biede we have had a couple of grade school reunions over the years.
My parents continued to live in the Austin and then Oak Park area for many years. Dad died in 1998 and Mom in 2012 at the age of 101. One of my daughters and her family also live in Chicago so I still get to go "home" frequently.
