Carol's Story
How does one answer the question, what have you been up to, when it has been over 50 years? Allow me to break it down into three segments: marriage, career and family.
Marriage: I married my husband Nick in 1959 and had 50 years of marriage with him until he passed June of 2010. We accomplished a lot together, built our lives, raised a family, moved to the suburbs in 1970 and then our dream home in 1995; a home my husband was quite proud to have achieved. We were a good team, worked hard, saved hard, and achieved the all American dream with its struggles and triumphs. The loss of my husband has been a difficult one, but I am managing to refocus on a new chapter in my life.
Family: I have three daughters, all grown and established in their respective careers; one who is a history teacher, the second who oversees a chain of hotels in NYC and a the third who is a hairstylist. I also have 4 grandchildren; a girl who graduated from college in 2009 an...Expand for more
d living in Spain, a grandson who is currently in his third year of college and pursuing a business/ finance degree, and two younger grandsons, one who just turned 13 runs his own lawn mowing service and the other is 8 and just adorable. My life is graced with children and grandchildren who are loved, in good health, and good people.
Career: I have worked in both retailing and wholesale for much of my career, which began with Bambergers in Newark over 50 years ago. I have worked at all levels of retail ranging from department manager to a Macy's buyer and then wholesale where I was a national sales manager and promoted to executive director for a well known area rug company. When I retired in 2009, I put to rest an aspect of my life that I loved and was good at.
From this point forward, I hope to establish new friendships and cherish those that are tried and true. If you remember me and would like to get caught up, I would love to hear from you.
