Carol's Story
On June 15, 1974, one week after I graduated from high school, I married my high school sweetheart. We were married for six years, then divorced. During that time, I had two beautiful children, and worked for the State of California Board of Equalization. In 1981, I remarried. Three years later in 1984, my second husband and I moved to Pennsylvania. My second husband was originally from Pennsylvania. We lived in Philipsburg, PA. Then, after 25 years of marriage, we divorced. I have been working at The Pennsylvania State University for 24 years now, and am currently a Finance and Accounting Assistant there. In 2009, I met the love of my life and moved to Altoona, PA to be with him. In 2010, we married, and I had never been happier. We had three wonderful years together, then sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer and died last year. So, I am single again and content with my life. I continue to w...Expand for more
ork for Penn State University, and am looking forward to the day that I can retire. I am a down-to-earth person and enjoy the simple things in life. I enjoy reading a good book, watching a good movie, cooking and baking, and playing Facebook Games (LOL). When the weather is nice, I enjoy doing things outside, like working in the garden. I truly love being in Pennsylvania, mainly for the four changing seasons, although this past winter was horrendous and I thought it would never end. But that makes me appreciate the Spring-time weather so much more. I love spending time with my now adult children and grandchildren. Family is very important to me! I go to a Baptist Church and do so enjoy the music there, and I have realized the importance of being close to God, because when all is said and done, He is the one who has always been there for me throughout my life through all of my ups and downs!
