Carol's Story

Three favorite Richard Lupardo (English Class) stories: 1) He caught me chewing gum in class and made me wear it on the end of my nose for the remainder the class. 2) He caught me talking to Brenda Grayson and had me write on the blackboard..."I will not hold sewing circle in class at the expense of my English teacher's sanity". 3) While analyzing William' Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar", Lupardo jumps up on his desk and recites the entire Marc Antony eulogy for Julius Caesar, gestures and all! Best friends with Linda Ferrand and Joyce Schiller at ITHS. Married at 19 in February 1965...after 10 months, divorced in November of 1965...no use in prolonging a mistake! Never remarried, but am having one hell of a time. Moved to NYC and started work as a receptionist for Maxwell's Plum in 1967 and, after Warner LeRoy opened Tavern on the Green in '76, I became the Public Relations and Event Planner for Tavern where I worked closely with dozens of celebrities, including movie studios and Broadway producers arranging opening night events for motion picture and Broadway openings. Also, worked with movie studios to arrange filming of motion picture scenes: Some of the celebs I worked with included Paul Newman (opening night party for "Slapshot), Carol Burnett (opening night party for "Moon Over Buffalo), Neil Simon (filming "Only When I Laugh"), John Travolta, Dolly Parton, Tony Bennett, Jill Clayburgh , Dinah Shore & co-host Tony Randall (for one week broadcasting of daily TV talk show), Al Pacino, DeLorean (press conference for introduction of his car), Rock Hudson (who had the distinction of calling me the "B" word in the crowded Crystal Room), Liberace, etc., etc. And, I have wild stories about each and every celebrity I was fortunate, or unfortunate, enough to work with. Eventually moved on to PR and Banquet Manager for the Russian Tea Room, Smith & Wollensky, The Grand Central Oyster Bar, and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel to name a few restaurants and hotels I'd worked for in NYC. Bought my home in Phoenicia (tiny little Catskills town) in 1999 as a weekend getaway and, after 9/11, moved up there for good. Also have a condo in F...Expand for more
ort Lauderdale but am now looking for a home in South Carolina. I'm now retired, but am very much involved in "Animal Rights" (licensed NYS Wildlife Rescue Rehabilitator, volunteer at Ulster County SPCA, founded feline T/N/R program working with rescue of feral cats for local area, as well as establishing a pet food pantry) Active in local politics as well as the local food pantry. Have traveled to Spain, Italy, France, Malta, Sicily, Tunisia. Rolled bandages in Israel at Kibbutz Ayalet Hashachar on the Syrian border during the "6-Day War" in 1967 and again in 1972. Horse backpacked in the Absaroka Wilderness and Yellowstone Park in Montana, was mugged in Puerto Rico, and surrounded by the "locals" of a small village in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica (the Jamaican Police extricated me from a very delicate situation and warned against traveling alone in the Mountains. Hitch-hiked across California in the late 60's was picked up by David Winters, choreographer for "Shindig" who managed "The Iron Butterfly"...he took me to a concert where they opened for The Doors...went backstage, met Morrison, flew to Vegas for the opening of the Ann Margaret Show at the Riviera which Winter's also choreographed....another time picked up by Dewey Martin, drummer for "Buffalo Springfield", wound up at party in Venice CA with the likes of Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Neil Young, etc. Now, I spend a lot of time with my horses and rescue cat, Talullah, and oh yes, the occasional male companionship when I find the time. As time marches on, so have I......moved to Simpsonville, SC in 2014 and, after 10 months in S.C., I moved to Ocala, FL in 2015. Here it is 2016, and I'm now in the process of moving back to Simpsonville SC in May, 2017 moved back to Ocala, but in February 2018 moved to Spartanburg SC, however in July 2018, I moved back to Ocala to be near family. I haven't unpacked because who knows where I'll be moving to next year. Have led an interesting, if not colorful life and treasure each and every one of my experiences and the people and animals I've met along the way. I'm looking forward to many more to come, G-D willing.
