Carol's Story
It's great to be living back in Stockton in the home I grew up in. I'm happily retired which allows me free time to plan our reunions.
After graduating from San Jose State, I was hired by Trans International Airlines, a charter out of Oakland, which was great because right away I would be traveling around the world and not on some milk run up and down the state. I thought I would stay with that job for about 2 years and then get a real job! Well, 17 years later I was still there until the airline ceased operations. What a great ride it was. We flew troops to Viet Nam on MAC charters, students to Europe, sales incentive trips to Hawaii, pilgrims to Mecca from different parts of Africa to Jeddah for the Hadj.
After 6 years away from flying, I missed the lifestyle and got hired by American Airlines....Expand for more
I was fortunate to get based at SFO and enjoyed flying domestically for 13 years. I already had the exotic flying under my belt so it was okay to work on what sometimes was called a "flying Greyhound bus."
The job really deteriorated after the horror on 9/11/01 and I knew my days of enjoying this job were numbered. I hung in there with my seniority going in reverse until I retired in Oct. 2005.
I met the love of my life, Ned, after moving back to Stockton from SF. I was introduced to him by our dear friend Tana Rock Uriarte. Since he went to Cal, we are devoted followers of Cal football and basketball. I have lunch once a month with all the reunion comittee members. We had so much fun planning the reunions that we've been having lunch monthly for over 30 yrs. now.
Life is certainly very good.
