Life
Where to begin . . . graduated from Stanford in 1976, got married one week later (25th anniversary next June), moved to Charlottesville, VA (where spouse Ted Mason had his first job as an English professor), graduated UVA Law School 1980, clerked for Federal Court of Appeals, worked at large law firm in D.C. until 1983, moved to Hartford, CT (Ted teaching at Trinity College)and taught law school (University of Connecticut)until 1989 (had boy in 1986 and girl in 1988), moved to Mount Vernon, OH (Ted teaching at Kenyon College), practiced in Columbus with another large law firm through 199...Expand for more
2 (not sure why I thought I'd like it any better the second time around), then hung a shingle in Mount Vernon where I continue to practice as a country lawyer.
Of course, this leaves out all the traumas and mistakes, of which I have had (and continue to have) my share. When the cash flow is dismal or the depression and anxiety linked to the stress of lawyering get really bad, I focus on the kids, the golden retriever, the marriage, and the fact that I'm able to run three to five miles almost every day. Hope my classmates have similar things to buoy them up when the inevitable crises hit.
