Life I am living in holmes county ohio ........our county is the home of the largest amish community in the world.........this is a amazing place to live... i went back to school at 52 to study art...........i had been a medical technologist for many years and wanted something to do for the rest of my life that was fun ....... i found it.........my husband retired and we moved to rural ohio.....he plays cowboy and i play in clay........... I have a pottery here in Amish country..........the pottery is called treaty line pottery..... the greenville treaty line is the southern border of our farm..... I make and sell wood fired pottery...some sculptural but mostly functional ........My kiln holds 400-500 pots each firing .....i built the japanese style noborigama kiln myself in 2003......it took a month to build and over 5000 bricks..... idid have a little help from my friends...... I fire the kiln three tmes a year......... each firing takes about 40 hours and uses 2 cords of wood...Expand for more
