Carol's Story
Life
I am living in holmes county ohio ........our county is the home of the largest amish community in the world.........this is a amazing place to live... i went back to school at 52 to study art...........i had been a medical technologist for many years and wanted something to do for the rest of my life that was fun ....... i found it.........my husband retired and we moved to rural ohio.....he plays cowboy and i play in clay........... I have a pottery here in Amish country..........the pottery is called treaty line pottery..... the greenville treaty line is the southern border of our farm..... I make and sell wood fired pottery...some sculptural but mostly functional ........My kiln holds 400-500 pots each firing .....i built the japanese style noborigama kiln myself in 2003......it took a month to build and over 5000 bricks..... idid have a little help from my friends...... I fire the kiln three tmes a year......... each firing takes about 40 hours and uses 2 cords of wood...Expand for more
........i have a shop here on the farm where i sell my pottery ........i have a web site under the pottery name wwwdottreatylinepotterydotcom if you want to see what i am doing.....we are living our dream life.......we live in a log house in the woods ..........we have three children.....two girls and a boy and eight grandchildren.........seven girls and one boy........poor guy....they are the joy of my life ......the kids all love to come to the farm and we love to have them....... we also have two horses two llamas two dogs a goat and a talking bird....the bird will engage you in a conversation if given a chance......his vocabulary is over 500 words......he is a character.........i have such good memories of our time at clarkstown........ it seems like it was only yesterday that we were young people trying to figure life out..........I hope you are all well......
