CLASS OF 1964

Carol's Story

Life After working 10 years for Shady Lane School (first in Rgt. Sq. then Pt. Breeze), I moved to TX to care for my granddaughter, Lizz, as her father left and my daughter, Lesley, was career military. We moved to Ft. Hood and when Lesley left the Army we remained in the area. She was going to school full-time and sub teaching. Then unable to get a job equal to her CJ degree, so , last winter I said "I'm moving back to PA". They came with me so we are now in N. Versailles, but just recently put hand money down on a house down the street from my youngest, Samantha, her husband and most importantly my newest grandson Elliot, aka The Moose (19 months in mid April 2010). The walk to her house is 5 minutes from the new old house and fifteen by car from the one we currently live in, I like that :^) ! And I will be closer to my step-son, in Wilmerding, so can see my step- grands more often. Definitely a bonus!! Like Lizz, these guys are teens and one pre-teen, so Elliot is really spoiled! My first dh, Bruce London (some of you met him at 64's first reunion at the defunct Holiday Inn on Brinton Rd,) died in '78. I returned to Edgewood and remarried. That one ended in divorce, but I got a step-son, Bob, and my youngest, Samantha, from that experience. Daddy {Bob (Gibby) Gibson - class of 1940, I think)died in '95. Mother remarried Ed Borrebach, whom I am happy to call Dad. They live in Sherwood Oaks, a...Expand for more
wonderful retirement community in Cranberry. Elmer St. sure has changed. Only Mrs. Havrilla (the old Smith house) is left. All the others have moved away or, sadly passed on. I retired when we moved north again and stay home all day with Lizz as she is in PA Cyber School. However, before the move to our Turtle Creek home, I hope to get a part-time job with either Lowes or Home Depot. The eventual discount will help with the costs of our fixer upper and also provide me with expert advice -- well more expert than mine. A visit to me will result in me handing you a paint brush, like Daddy did when I returned from New York to get married to Bruce. I walked in, took my luggage up to my room, changed and came down to him holding out a bucket of white paint and a paint brush with him saying "You get all the white areas BEFORE Bruce's parents come. That meant all the trim in EVERY room!!! Gag. Bruce got the same treatment with gray when he came, but that was only the basement stairs and door. Like Daddy's house in Edgewood, I think our old milltown house is going to need perpetual fixing. But it should keep me out of mischief. Also seeking an afforadble private (preferably Christian) K-12 for Lizz as I need to not be her teacher, so she gets to survive to be 14. I'd really like to hear from EHSers who graduated in the 60's. And I promise I won't really hand you a paint brush if you come to visit.
