Carol's Story
Was married first time for 6 years (he was 19 years older). 2nd time (this one was 9 yrs younger) lasted 20 years and thought we were going to grow old together but it wasn't to be. Short version: I got cancer, wasn't expected to live, he got a girlfriend, I survived, his girlfriend was a crazy, he committed suicide. It was tough but I'm fine - I finally married a man my own age in July 2021 and am very happy! Dr. Ron and I have been together since 2015..
he has 3 Masters (Business, Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering) and a PhD; he speaks 4 languages, has been in 30 countries and, at 28, he was the youngest ever CFO (Chief Financial Officer) for HP. With genius level IQ, he's quite a character!
I worked as an RN for 23 years - 10 yrs making home visits in Chicago's inner city projects (Hi there, I'm your nurse - today is not your day to shoot me!). rsing homes (I'd named my firm GGOF&L - Grannies, Geezers, Old Farts and Loonies). Began riding a motorcycle when I was 40 - an 800cc Honda Pacific Coast. I was the top recruiter in the country when I formed Chicago's first chapter of the Women on Wheels motorcycle club. My prize was a trip to old Mexico and on the ride home was when I first experienced New Mexico.
I moved here to Albuquerque in 1995. While still in Chicago, I became a Greyhound bus driver in 1992; even drove out of New York City for awhile! I ended up driving over 600,000 miles before becoming disabled in a motorcycle accident in 1996. I have two fake knees, back, neck and hip problems but I manage with a tall walker and a power chair for distance. After becoming disabled, I joined Creative Memories as an Independent Advisor. I have run a successful scrapbooking business out of my home for over 22 years. LIfe, for me, has been a bit on the wild side but a lot of fun! I have great memories and still enjoy raising eyebrows whenever I can!
