Carol's Story
Photo was taken at the 20th reunion, can you believe we're coming up on our 50th in 2017? YIKES!!!!!! :)
Raised in Seattle, Dad was in the U.S. Army so he was away a lot, mainly Newfoundland and Greenland. On his return he had orders to Okinowa, so left San Francisco on a boat and spent a year in Naha. I remember Mom coming home with lobsters and sis and I would jump over them (screaming because we thought they were alive).
After a year there Dad received orders for Ft. Sill, OK. I was 5 and Teri was 3.
Then we were off to Brookings, SD where Dad was Advisor to the National Guard. He retired as a Major-U.S. Army in 1961 after 20 years of honorable service. We left Brookings in the middle of 7th grade since job opportunit...Expand for more
ies for Dad were so much better on the west coast. It was far from what Teri and I wanted by no means. These were our childhood friends (mine since 2nd grade, couldn't imagine leaving the town we had grown up in and our friends). We went from a school of 300 to 1200. Quite a culture shock. We both made friends and once Mom and Dad found a house to buy at least we know we weren't going anywhere soon!
I met an NCO stationed at Ft Lewis and we married in December 1970. No kids. We lived from Tacoma, Ft. Worth, El Paso, Ft. Knox, KY, West Germany and finally Colorado. I came back to Seattle for good in 1981.
Moved to the very west end of the Olympic Peninsula in 2003, and and live in Forks.
