CarolAnne's Story

I was quite shy in school and was not very outgoing. I didn't really participate in many school activities, but I did play softball and tennis at home. I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up and just sort of went through the motions to get through school. After graduation, I went to work at Kings Department Store. I left there to work at Triton Glass in Buena. I was there for about 7.5 years before joining the Vineland Police Department. I was the first female municipal police officer in the county. I started as a foot patrolman and left after 10 years as a Detective/Juvenile Officer to work at the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office. My position as the Multi-Disciplinary Team Coordinator was a grant position, and I was laid off after about 3 years. I eventually went to work for the Division of Youth and Family Services and the Institutional Abuse Investigation Unit for a total of about 7 years. I then became a school social worker at the Bacon School in Millville for 5 years before landing my current job as a m...Expand for more
ental health therapist at Ranch Hope, a residential treatment facility for teenaged boys in Alloway, NJ. I have been divorced for many years and have a 23 year old daughter. I attended Cumberland County College and Rutgers-Camden...receiving a Masters degree in Social Work. I've lived in Salem County for about 5 years. If I could do things over again, I would definitely have been more outgoing and involved in high school I didn't break out of my shell until I got my drivers license and had freedom to come and go pretty much as I pleased. In fact, the need for independence was so great that I got kicked out of the house at 19 years old and have been on my own ever since (other than the 9.5 years I was with my former husband). Life has certainly not turned out as I expected. My life choices have been interesting, to say the least. However, it has all brought me to where I am now and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I've seen the best and worst of the human condition and I still have hope that the best will win out.

Ok... Chifriends....where did Karen Ellis and I go for breakfast yesterday?
I couldn't resist taking this beautiful picture. That thin silvery line is the sun shining on the Atlantic Ocean through the clouds.
