Carole's Story
Hello Classmate,
As we all know time really gets away from us and now we are 46 years away from our graduating year of 1963.
I have 4 kids, a boy and girl from another marriage and 2nd husband also a boy and girl. Their ages range from 42 thru 45 and we have 6 grandchildren with ages ranging from 4 to 21.
I worked in the Workers' Compensation field for 19 years and January of 2007 I was diagnosed with a Workers' Compensation Injury myself and remain on the injury still. Once I'm released to return to work, as I possibly need a 3rd surgery on my right had, I look forward to retirement.
I always loved art and still do. I have done scrapbooking, painting on glass, dress making and alterations reading and enjoying resting in my back yard. Unfortunatly I have not been able to do much of them since I was taken off work due to my work injury in 2007.
I have been married to my second husband, going on 32 years which is when I came back to Azusa to live in 1978.
I love traveling, which started my interest when I worked as a field and franchise trainer with Winchel's donuts. I would travel bi-weekly from California to Chicago and would be home on the weekends. At times it was difficult but my family was very supportive of my job. My husband is from Hawaii and we have gone to Haswaii 5 times together with one time I traveled to Hawaii with my Sister-N Law for a week.
I love my family & our get togethers. As our children grew up we loved to have guests come ...Expand for more
over and my husband would Bar-B-Q for all. At times we would have gatherings of at least 75 to 100 guests at a gathering.
This past July we vacationed in Branson Missouri and my Son who lives in Iowa with his wife and 3 kids and my daughter who lives in Moorpark CA and her husband and son (4 1/2) met us in Kimberling (Table Rock Lake), Missouri for a family reunion. My step daugher and step son were unable to join us. My sisterand her husband have 6 grandchildren. Their son, his wife and 4 kids, along their daughter and her little girl were all there, her baby stayed home with Daddy.
It was a great time and we're looking forward to more reunions as it was the first time in 15 years that we all got together.
I am a Breast Cancer Survivor, as of August 16, I will be free of Cancer for 19 years. I volunteer for American Cancer Society visiting early diagnosed women, helping them with their decision making, visiting women in the hospital after their surgery or visiting them at their home. Either way is very rewarding for myself and for the survivor seeing that there is life after cancer.
I give presentations to schools talking to high school students, Women clubs, work places and many more, sharing my story and the importance of early detection.
I Love Life and feel special that I was given a second chance to live, so I live life to it's fullest.
I wish you all a wonderful time for the rest of your, hopefully retired life.
