lt in karate, and studying for an MA in Sociology at York University. In 1988, Peter got a job at Laurentian University, so we moved north to Sudbury. I began studying for my PhD while working full-time at a local sexual assault centre: I developed personnel and operational policies; job and programme descriptions; and evaluation processes. After that I facilitated and helped establish the sexual assault centre, Amelia Rising, in North Bay. In 1994, having completed my PhD, I was hired as a full-time professor at Laurentian University and worked there for 17 years. Since retiring I have developed a hobby making earrings and selling them on-line (Northernblooms on Etsy). So far I have sold more than 1,200 pairs of earrings to people all around the world.
