Carole's Story
I have had four children, two boys Steve and Mike and two girls Kathy and Debbie. Kathy only lived two days, so I have raised three delightful kids. We had a lot of fun over all those growing years. Lots of wonderful memories. Steve and Mike are both Purdue graduates. Debbie married at 19 and had twin girls and a little boy, when that marriage ended. A couple years later she married Scott and they had another set of twins and he is a dad to 5 kids ages 16 to 8. A lively bunch to say the least. My son Mike has two girls who are 17 and 15. Lots of teenagers in the family right now and with all their friends we keep up on all the latest teen talk and dance, etc.
I have not done anything spectacular in my life but have been very, very happy being a full-time mom and grandmother. Paul and I have enjoyed traveling a lot since we married. We just like to hop in the car and head out. Of course, we have a big old black dog that looks like a baby bear cub and he goes everywhere with us. Always gets lots of attention too.
Good health has been my companion ever since I left Jeff in 1954 so I have a lot to be thankful for.
Still have my first grade friend, Jane German who is now Jane Cole and lives in Amory Mississippi. We try to visit a coup...Expand for more
le of times a year. She and I started to school together at Oakland Grade School and have remained close friends all these years. Also, have another close Oakland School friend, Edna Idle who keeps in contact with me from California. Judith Heindel only attended Oakland one year or so and we found each other several years ago and now are good e-mail buddies.
The summers we live on Lake Freeman just below Monticello. Then we have an apartment in my daughter's home in Lebanon In so we have several places we call home. I was a widow when my daughter and son-in-law were building a new home nd they wanted me to have space in their home so I had a three room apartment included in their building plans. It is great because we always come home to Indiana for Christmas and we have a nice place to stay two or three weeks whatever we want. That way we don't have to open up the lake home which we winterize when we leave in October.
That is a little about me. By the way we spend mid-October to mid-April in a small community named Alamo, Texas. We are about 45 miles west of Brownsville along the Rio Grand River. Actually, we are about 7 miles north of the Mexican border. Enjoy the wonderful weather, the slower pace of life, and the excellent food.
