Caroline's Story
Since my dad was a pastor, we moved around a good bit. You may remember that I moved in the middle of the 10th grade...from NC to SC. I never did graduate from high school. I left high school after the 11th grade and started my freshman year at Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC the next week. (They took me on SAT scores and forgave the fact that the only thing I lacked for high school graduation was English 4.) I skipped the 12th grade as my mother was the senior English teacher in the Christian Academy where my dad was headmaster! Yikes!! Later, when my parents moved to Alabama (which in my ignorance at the time seemed like the end of the earth) I moved with them and transferred to Troy University.
I went back to NC to seminary in Wake Forest, NC as soon as I graduated from college in AL and from there to work with the NC Baptist State Convention. That's where I met my husband and we married and headed off to south Chile where we served as missionaries for almost 15 years.
We have four children (3 from Archie's first marriage--I'm...Expand for more
1, 3 & 5 years older than those 3) and we adopted a daughter in Chile when she was a baby), 7 grandchildren (I was a grandmother at age 26!) and 1 great grandhild! Never a dull moment!
Currently all 4 children are living in NC and Archie and I are living in Birmingham, AL. He is retired (age 75 but nobody's told him yet! ha ha) but very active and continues to go on overseas mission trips. I am working with a Christian non-profit and publisher as Missions Innovator & Leadership Coach. I am a certified life and work coach and love helping people take steps toward reaching their goals. I travel about 40% of the time, teaching leadership development conferences and keynoting at Christian women's events. The bigger the crowd and the brighter the lights, the happier I am!!
Who knows what the future holds? I am very, very happy and blessed to have a wonderful family, all of my needs and most of my wants met, good health and wonderful friends!
