Carolyn's Story

Married Thomas Doherty class of '63 (and still married to) in 1965. I attended Brewer High until the last of my senior year and transferred, then graduated from Bangor High. I graduated from UMA and Graceland University with a BSN. I was commissioned as an officer into the US Army Reserves, in 1991 and retired after 20 years of service in March of this year, 2011 . I worked for the Veteran's Administration as an Operating Room Nurse and retired, in May, after 28 years. oking (tho I'm not very good at it). We have one beautiful daughter and 4 grandchildren, but the lights of our lives are 'the girls'...our 3 Bichons. (they're so much cuter than kids and a darned site easier! I have one more goal in life and that is to skydive in the next few months, which I plan to do with my granddaughter. That's me in a nutshell. I always wanted to be a nurse and member of the military when I grew up. My family and friends thought that nursing was a good idea , but that i would never join the military. As it turns out, they were wrong about the military..
