Carolyn's Story
After graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1973, I attended Corban University in Salem, Oregon, earning a B.A. in Music and Communications. I made Salem my home for four decades, forged a fulfilling career in nonprofit executive management and public policy mediation. After swearing I would never live in Twin Falls again (hah-hah!! last famous words!), I moved back to Twin Falls in 2015 to live with/care for my aging mother, who was in ill health. Mama passed in February 2021, and due to Covid and changes in the economy, I remained in Twin Falls until 2024, working part-time as a bookkeeper and payroll manager for two small family-owned companies and spending alternating weekends caring for my nearly 100-year-old cousin with dementia in the bustling metropolis of Castleford. I was fortunate to serve for five years as a mayoral appointee to the City of Twin Falls Planning & Zoning Commission, although admittedly this adventure left me disheartened. In mid-2024, I relocated one final time to Seattle, after becoming a patient-for-life of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center/University of Washington Medical Center in 2023, due to a diagnosis of early-stage multiple myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow/plasma). progression. I am blessed to have a lovely senior studio apartment on Capitol Hill only 15 minutes from Fred Hutch. I'm the mother of two, grandmother of four. My daughter and her family live on Beacon Hill in Seattle, Washington. My son and his family live in Salem, Oregon.

"Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest." ~ Mark Twain
""One life stamps and influences another, which in turn stamps and influences another, on and on, until the soul of human experience breathes on in generations we'll never even meet." ~ Mary Kay Blakely
"I know we're all pretty small in the big scheme of things, and I suppose the most you can hope for is to make some kind of difference, but what kind of difference have I made? What in the world is better because of me?" ~ Warren Schmidt (Jack Nicholson) in About Schmidt".
