Carolyn's Story
After graduating from Groveton I remained in Alexandria, VA. I raised my one daughter, Cindy, who also graduated from Groveton (the NEW Groveton)! I worked for the federal government in Washington, D.C. as a graphic designer until I retired in 2005. My husband, Ben Riley, and I moved that same year to our current home in Chesapeake, VA. Together we have three children, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren...oh, and one 18-year old cat still at home! Now that I don't have to punch the proverbial clock, I'm working harder than ever. I'm learning to do glass blowing at Tidewater Community College. Ben and I love to travel, get together with our family and make art and music. "It's a wonderful life"!

are just 10 of us in the glass blowing class which is the first college credit class to be taught at the studio. The Glass Studio is impressive and I encourage anyone who is visiting in this area to stop by the Chrysler Museum of Art to see it. It's reminds me of the glass studio at Corning, NY, if you have ever been there.
In June Ben and I will be going to attend the Glass Art Society conference being held in Toledo, Ohio. When we get back Ben will take a one week mission trip to Scotland with our church choir. He will sing and play cello on the trip.
On the home front Ben and I have 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. They live in Florida, Maryland, South Carolina and Iowa. So we have lots of places to visit trying to keep up with all of them.
