Carolyn's Story

Life My Spouse I met my husband when I was a junior in high school. He wanted to date my sister and my dad wouldn't let her date for another year, so Robert ask me out. We went to the old Salida Drive In (where I was NOT suppose to be) to see Gary Lewis and the Pacemakers. I was suppose to be home by 10:00 pm and I got home about midnight. I just knew my dad was waiting to KILL me. (He wasn't up and I got away with it) Robert did not ask me out again, and neither did anyone else in Riverbank. I assumed he told a bunch of lies about me. He went to Viet Nam and when he returned he ask me out again. I found out that he had told all his friends I wasn't the "right" kind of girl, he couldn't get to "first base" with me so no one else ask me out....CREEPS!!! We went out on Sept.28, 1968 and got married on Dec.28, 1968. He had matured a lot during his Nam tour of duty and thought he would never live to get home again. All he wanted to do was find a "good" girl, get married and have a family. Well here we are today 34 years later and he still loves me, I guess I was the "right" kind of girl after all!!! My Pets We have three dogs, Shotzee, a 108 pound rotweiller, Rowdy, a coyote queensland mix, and Jake, an austrailian shepherd/queensland mix---he is the King of the animal world around here. We rescue cats for the Humane Society and now have seven cats. We have a Morgan mare, her name is Ronnie and she has an attitude. We have lots of critters up here but especially a lot of humming birds. They all make my world just beautiful and I love them so much. My daughter Cari is 33 and has recently seperated from her husband. She is an EMT and a volunteer Fire Fighter. She drives the ambulance for Valley Springs Ambulance. As a fire fighter and going on emergency calls she will replace (with her own money) items for people who have lost their belongings in a fire. She will make sure they have shoes to wear and food on their table. I am extremely proud of her. She is my heart with legs. Rodney is 29, he is a paramedic firefighter at Ebbots Pass in Arnold California. He has a daughter from his first marriage, Bailie, who is 6 years old. He is now married to a wonderful girl, Jennifer who has an 11 year old daughter Amanda. Amanda and Bailie just light up our lives. They are now in the process of building thier own home in Arnold. It should be finsihed by the Fall of this year 2003. Today's date is Sept. 18, 2004, it is my sister Reta's birthday. If she were living she would be 55 today. In updating my bio, I would like to add that my son has moved into the two story house he built with his own hands and they now have a son, Evan Myrl Hendrix. Evan was born on June 14, 2004. He is beautiful and another light in our lives. Rodney is now an Engineer with th...Expand for more
e fire dept. One of his friends, Eva Shively, just died fighting a fire near Sonora. Her memorials are now taking place. Today's date January 28, 2006. My daughter and her husband are back together and they have a beautiful baby boy named Austin Robert Schweickert. She no longer works out of the home. She found out how much work a little one is and she loves it. He is now six months old. My son took classes and now has his contractors license, though he remains at his job in Arnold as a Firefighter/Paramedic. I am once again retired and LOVE it. Robert and I just celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary. We are building a 40 X 60 metal shop and remodeling our house. He is still self employed and semi retired. We are enjoying life and would love to hear from any and all "old" classmates. School I was very shy in school except around my very close friends. I am not that person any more. I loved high school expecially my senior year. I dated Harvey Martin most of that year and loved him very much. We went our seperate ways after high school for no particular reason. He went to Viet Nam and I visited him in the VA Hospital in San Diego when he came home wounded. I found out that he passed away two years ago (Sept 2000) and it was a very sad thing for me, as if part of myself had passed on. In high school I ran around with Barbara Gray, Tommie Bench, Madeline Davidson and Ofelia Alonzo. I had a great time in school and I have these girls to thank for it. We were like all the rest of the girls just not as popular and we didn't care. My sister once told me I was to busy being myself to even know what "pere" pressure was. Today is February 24th, 2011. I have not read my own profile for years. It's all still the same except the years have gone by and my wonderful dogs have crossed over the "Rainbow Bridge" and are waiting for me. We now have a yellow lab named Budder Ball and a corgie mix named Tommy. Tommy is a rescue dog and is great. Budder is great too but he still chews everything including the side of the house!! My mom lives with us she is 87. Robert's mom passed away on November 10, 2010. My God how we miss her. . My son and his family are doing great. He is still a paramedic/firefighter/engineer at Ebbotts Pass. And has three great kids. I am proud to be "grand" ma. My daughter and family are doing great. Graham has had some surgeries and thank God he's still with us. They have a son, Austin, he is now 5 years old. I repeat, I LOVE being "grand" ma. Robert and I have now celebrated 42 years together, he's had it easy and I've done a LOT of work!!!! You know a woman's work is never done. Now I am waiting for our 45th Class Reunion and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone July 30th, please show up and let's talk and visit.See you there.
