Carolyn's Story
How sweet life is. It is so short that time seems to fly by at a speed so rapid, you do not know what happened.
First your just out of high school and then on to college or work or whatever. Then you have a spouse and maybe a child or two or so. After that you have the daily things of living within a family and learning that it takes everything you make to get by. Either you live within your means or your lifestyle is big toys for big boys. Then when you get to be in your fifties or sixties you begin to realize that life is going too fast. You become a grandparent and the a great-grandparent. Wow! You're getting OLD!!!
I used to think that 30 was old but then 40 hit and then 50.
Where did the time fly?
When I was in high school, I thought that this was cool and everyone was clicky but I didn't mind. I enjoyed them as they were for whom they were.
As time went on I lost track of most of my classmates as life has a way of taking us in different directions. Mine was to have a child and try to make the best of my world as I could.
After several years of searching and finding and finding and searching, I finally met someone who swept me off of my feet. I fell in LOVE with him at once. He made me feel that I was the most important person on earth and he loved me and my family as we were. He has been a wonderful father, grandfather and now a great-grandfather to his and my families.
We share a son and two daughters who some day just might be the the boon of us. They have blessed us with eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and another on the way. We love them all and see them on rare occasions. Since they are scattered in three different directions, we don't see them often but talk to them on a very regular basis.

at is not. Since we are out in the boonies and not close to big cities and malls and such, we don't spend a lot of money of which we don't have anyway.
We are church going and involved with our community and church. In a town of under 1200 you really learn just what life really means and how everyone helps everyone young and old. We do church ministries to our local prison and our Old folks home.
I have taken up singing with the Community Christian Choir and we give two concerts a year, one at Christmas and one at Easter. It is so rewarding to give something back to our community.
I also am on the Cemetery Board as Vice-chairperson. We have been working on getting our cemetery back in shape.
Since I lost my Mother a couple of months ago and when we had her celebration of life it was so beautiful. But, can you imagine the consternation when we arrive at the cemetery and they had dug the grave in the wrong area? Well, my Chair-person of the board, who is my adopted sister and best friend, went ballistic and even called the Mayor to set it right. How's that for small town ethics?
All's well that ends well, though. My whole family was here and we actually got through it graciously.
My sister, Dori Pinkham died when she was 51 back in 2003 of Liver failure. Sure do miss her. She was a great person.
Hoping to see a lot of you oldsters this coming October.
It will be a lot of fun to go to the football game and have pizza with old friends. I love football anyway. Since my husband's from Pennsylvania, I guess that the Steelers are our team. But, I am not quite the nut about them as his little sister, who is 6 months younger than I, and his older sister likes a totally different team. When football season hits, no one bothers us until our games are over.
I haven't changed an awful lot but then I really have changed so much for the better.
May each and everyone who reads this enjoy health and happiness like I have and God Bless You All,
Carolyn (Pinkham) Carr
