Life Life since high school has been this amazing journey, which in 1990 led me back to San Francisco to marry my pre-Dunwoody high school sweetheart. Chip Seefer and I were married in 1991, and he came complete with this amazing kid named Jake, making me a very proud stepmother. Chip is an attorney specializing in securities fraud, and Jake is a sophomore in high school, running cross-country and playing trumpet in the marching band. (He's also one mean guitar player!) As for me, I'm a business professor and chair of the Business Administration Department at Diablo Valley College, a large community college located about 25 miles east of San Francisco. I'm also a published author -- a college textbook, nothing too exciting! When Chip and I aren't working, we love exploring San Francisco; playing tennis; riding bikes; traveling; reading; hiking; photography; listening to jazz, classical, and rock; going to concerts; watching college football (Go Dawgs!); and dining out in San Francisco's great restaurants. In fact, my husband and I love San Francisco so much that we recently bought a small hideaway on Macondray Lane, a cobblestone pedestrian-only lane with a rich literary history, located about a half block from the summit of Russian Hill in San Francisco. ItÂs in a quaint building that was built in 1906 (presumably after the earthquake!), and we love our time spent there. Yes, I stay very busy! School I loved my high school days, and I smile every time I think back on them. We had such great times -- hanging out at Morgan Falls, the Falls, and Beau Rivage; working at the mall; cruising around town in our parents' cars; going to concerts at the Omni, the Fox Theatre, and to Champagne Jams; going to Colorado during Christmas break our senior year to visit Fi...Expand for more
gg; and the list goes on. I am also grateful to many of my teachers who had such a positive influence on me. Coach Winterstein, Coach Jackson, Mr. Petrini, and Ms. Hale, you were great. And most of all, Rose Kessler. She was such an amazing teacher, mentor, and friend. In fact, I'm probably a teacher today because of her. Thanks, Ms. Kessler! College I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1984 with a BBA degree in Industrial Relations. For those of you who like college football, I was a freshman with Herschel Walker and that was the year Georgia won the National Championship. It was a great time to start college, and it made me a lifelong college football fan. Go Dawgs!! Over a decade later, in 1996, I earned my MBA in financial management from JFK University. This was a great move because it qualified me to teach at the community college level. Four months after earning my MBA, I started teaching at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, California, and I've been there ever since. Workplace Three years after graduating from the University of Georgia, I finally found what I was meant to do with my life -- teach. I started teaching business courses at the college level in 1987. After earning my MBA in 1996, I began teaching at Diablo Valley College, a large community college located about 25 miles east of San Francisco. I teach a variety of courses, including business English, business communications, advanced business communications, introduction to business, and applied accounting. I also chair the Business Administration Department, serve on the Scholarship Committee, chair the Distance Learning Task Force, and am faculty advisor for the DVC Business Club. I love my students and love what I do. Going to work every day is an adventure!
