Carolyn's Story
After graduating from Montclair High (age 17) I briefly attended Chaffey College and then went to Pasadena City Collage where I rec'd an AA degree then continued to Calif. State University at L.A majoring in Sociology. After graduating I was actively involved in the insurance industry being a property underwriter and then acquired my Brokers license and started my own insurance agency in Santa Barbara, California. I married when I was 30 (I met him on a blind date)and had a son at the age of 40. When he was born I sold my agency and worked for the County of Santa Barbara 14 years in the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Dept After my husband passed away when I was 50 and my mother passed soon after; then I retired at age 57 and moved to Flori...Expand for more
da with my son. I have been single ever since and have met some wonderful men and women. Currently, I have a home in Florida and also one in Michigan, so I am now a snow bird. I visit my sister, Margaret, who graduated from Montclair in 1963 she lives in Arizona. Life has been good to me and my family so I don't complain about anything.
I lived with my grandparents in Montclair and we had some cows and a 5 acre orange grove on Phillips Blvd. I went to school with my sister, as she had a car. Those were wonderful years---irrigating the orange grove and planting gardens with my grandparents (they passed at age 92 and 99). Since then I sold the grove and the home. What memories..I do hope everyone was as fortunate in their life path as I.
