Carolyn's Story
How do you hope old friends remember you, well that is easy since I am in touch with the friends I hung around with in high school. We, Cindy, Terri, Meg, and Debbie get together as often as we can. Since Meg lives in the midwest, we meet at either Cindy or Terru's house for dinner whenever Meg is in town. Otherwise we usually meet a couple times a year for one of our birthdays and usually at Christmas time to go shopping together. Others I usually hear from either by email or by phone, and once in a while I run into someone and its nice to have a chance to catch up. And to specifically answer the question, I think most of my friends remember me as being fun to be around, thoughtful, and a determined person. worked full time. But within the year after graduating, I decided I wanted to go to college to be a teacher. I was on my own in this pursuit since I had to finance my own education, but I was determined to go. Overall it took me 10 years to earn my BA (I began as a full-time student but ran out of money after 1 year. Then I worked full and part-time jobs simultaneously to be able to live on my own and pay for my college expenses). In the long run it was all worth it because after earning my BA in English Education, I returned the next summer and earned certification in Social Studies. Three years later I had my MA in Multicultural Education and gained two more certifications. By having to pay my own way, I learned after earning my BA that I could achieve anything if I was determined to do it.
