Carolyn's Story
My oldest child enters highscool this year so it has me thinking about my years at Middletown High School! It seems like yesterday and a million years ago. I blasted Middletown and never looked back. I have lived in Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, Rolla, MO, and Fayetteville, NC, where I now call home.
I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Carribean as well as the US. I had a major need to explore the world after 18 years in Middletown.
I did get married there 16 years ago at AIM, which was just the beginning of my experience with the arts. I have owned an art gallery, I sit on the board of trustees of the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, am on the board of directors of the Junior League Fayetteville and work for a non-profit. I have been an interior designer for 10 years, PTA president, blah, blah, blah...
I host a black tie Holiday party every year for about 125 people in my home and do all the food myself. Just ask Kerry Jones next time you see her! Dave may still be hung over from the one they came to NC for!
Believe me, I"m "Still Crazy After All These Years".
I think we all get to part of our lives and start to look back at where we came from. High school was hard for eveyone....Expand for more
Sure some of us had a lot of fun, some didn't and it is amazing how those years form our lives. That is the one thing I hope I can get my kids to realize. It's important but not everything, (socially speaking). Some of you out there have stayed close, I on the other hand have no friends from high school. I have Kelly and Kerry but they are family. (Kelly and I are sisters-in-law too.) I know it sounds freaky but we married brothers, they met at my wedding.
Anyway, my point; I enjoyed high school, (accept for Senoir English), did the boyfriend thing, loved Teen Board at McAlpin's, wanted to be Paula Logan, (sorry, got over it), and moved on to have an extrordinary life. I hope all of the people reading this have found their happy place whitout too much crap and drama!
Oh, I almost died 12 years ago from a brain hemmhorage. (Please don't grade this and send it back, my spelling sucks!) That is when I decided to be happy. Every day, I find a reason to be happy. It isn't easy some days but it sure beats being dead.
In closing, I'm really busy but I'd like to hear from some of you. (If I didn't know you then, I won't remember you now!) Ya'll know who you are...
C.J. (I haven't gone by Carolyn for 28 years!) Bye!
