Carolyn's Story
After graduation, I attended school in Abilene TX for a year. I met my husband Loren in the fall of 1970 and we were married the day after Christmas. He worked at the Naval Shipyard while I attended Olympic Junior College in Bremerton. In the summer of 1971, we moved to Auburn (Loren went to work for BPA) and bought our first piece of property in 1972, growing to 45 acres where we grew Christmas Trees and raised honeybees. We have 3 grown children (2 sons and a daughter) and 7 grand children (5 girls and 2 boys). All three families are local (at least right now) and doing well. Tavis, my oldest son, is a programmer and has 3 kids. His wife Sarina has a custom chocolate business. My second son Kirk works for the city of Puyallup; he and Rachael have 2 kids. I am still an avid "sewer" and make custom clothing, primarily Heirloom, although I enjoy quilting too!
I still say "we" even tho' I lost Loren in the spring of 2010, just 8 months short of 40 years together. That year or so was the hardest of my life and no sign of it getting any easier.
In the spring of 2014 I closed Trees 'n Bees, tree farm & beekeeping (after 42 years), and sold the property. I am in a temporary rental while I look for a place to buy. The last year - again - has been a real roller coaster on so many levels!
Now in the fall of 2015, I am settling in to my new home in Enumclaw, WA. Hopefully the roller coaster ride will level out now! I am working on promoting my sewing business, Old2New Heirlooms, and upgrading the 1960's house.
