Carolyn's Story
I never thought that I would leave Oregon, but after high school, I moved around a lot. From Portland, to Vancouver, to Seattle, back to Vancouver, back to Portland.....Then, I reunited with an old friend and the sparks flew. I found myself just outside of Watson Lake in the Yukon Territory, wondering what in the world I was doing following the love of my life to Alaska. Needless to say, I figured it out, and we are happily married now. My husband, Chuck Thomas, is a fishing guide on the Kenai River in Alaska. Who would have ever thought that I would enjoy curing bait!!! (Not me).

ng Coordinator for Providence Health and Services, and Chuck owns his own fish guiding business. We spend summers in Alaska, fishing on the Kenai - home of the world's largest king salmon! Winters are spent guiding on the Clackamas and local rivers. He is the only guide to have earned the Champion Guide title in the Kenai Classic three years in a row, and I am so very proud of him!!
It is funny how life turns out. I moved away from Redland, where I grew up in 1983, and in 2003 built a home just 2 miles from where I spent most of my childhood. My life has come full circle, and I couldn't be happier!!!
