Carrie's Story

Life I married Christopher Simkus, who I met at college, on June 7, 2003. Two other WEGO grads were members of our wedding party, Katie Nolan was my Maid of Honor and Josh Murphy was a groomsman. Chris and I now live in Alexandria, VA. We moved for my job at Georgetown and Chris just started working for a company developing methods for the Environmental Protection Agency. No kids or pets, but we will be thinking of starting a family in the next few years. School I have fond memories of High School and am still in touch with a few people from our class. ege I went to Augustana College in Rock Island, IL as a Biology major with a Latin American Studies minor. I was lucky to room with Katie Nolan for two years before going to South America for a study abroad program. I also met my husband there, who got to know Katie and Josh Murphy as a member of the concert band. Workplace After Augustana, I went to Northern Illinois University and just received my Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology. Chris and I took a leap and moved to the D.C. metro area for me to take a Post-Doctoral research postition in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department at Georgetown University's Medical Center. We live in Alexandria, VA, about 10 minutes from the Pentagon.
