Carrie's Story

Life What have we been up to you ask? well, we just welcomed our newest addition to the family back in August. He is a beautiful baby boy. He is welcomed by several brothers & sisters. You can read up all about him on the announcement page. We also just celebrated another wedding anniversary a few months back as well. Another wonderful year going by so fast. Sorry, unless you were a personal friend of mine, i do not wish to correspond at this time. Please respect my wishes, :) Carrie School The most inspiring teacher I had was "Teddy Bear" Edwards back from Clearwater Inter.. In his class we learned so much & most of what he taught has stayed with me today. My biggest crush is my husband of today. Most of you may remember him from Paramount High. He is my one & only, Richard Romero. We have been married for several years now enjoying every moment of it :) We also have several kids now & love every minute of that. Would I change anything back from school, NO! I wouldn't change a thing.. Things have worked out so well for me. Take Care All, Carrie Romero Story Ideas What would surprise everyone at my high school reunion? Well, probably how long my husband and I have been together and, just how many kids we have... Many of my friends would never have pictured me as the "mothering type" but more career motivated instead. Who says you can't have both? And, that is exactly what I did.. Have the best of both worlds, career and motherhood! Although I am more focused on my pregnancy right now than going back to even further my studies, I have stayed quite involved in the medical field. Also, I belong to a animal rescue group, that is something else no one probably would have ever guessed. Take Care, Carrie Romero One of my biggest passions in life has to do with rescuing and temporarily fostering animals. We volunteer what hours we have available and those vary each week. We have done alot of traveling to locate animals that have been left alone by someone who didn't want them, other times we can get a request to care for a new litter of kittens that has been abandoned by their mom. We have done various types of rescues for various types of animals. Some of the animals we have rescued have been: Dogs,Cats,Snakes,Turtles,Fish,Iguanas and Birds & occasionally Horses! Although there has been no preference with the rescues, we do our best work with Cats and Kittens. It breaks my heart to see an animal that has been left abandoned or intentionally hurt. I always thought I would have stayed only in the medical field but I never realized that animal rescuing and fostering can be just as rewarding!! I regret not getting involved sooner. We chose to get involved with a specific organization that has alot going for them. They are not only non-profit but they make sure each animal gets a home rather than ends up in a pound or back on the street again. Potential adoptees who wish to adopt animals from the organization not only have to show proof that they are a good match but there are many obstacles & hurtles to get thru before being allowed to adopt. Homes must be prior checked out, must have a veternarian who is licensed that they go thru who will vouch that these people are not abusers and that they bring in their animals for check-ups,shots,etc.. when needed. References of family, friends, neighbors are checked out, and the new potential owners must be willing to accept a home check back on each animal which usually is random. Not only has this been a great success for us, a new learning experience in a few cases, our c...Expand for more
hildren have learned so much. They have a greater respect for animals, they learn research on how to care for each particular type individually if that is needed, and they have learned how horrible circumstances can be for unwanted animals. One of our kids has been thinking about going to work in the animal field such as being a veternarian or animal behavior specialist after graduating. The kids love doing rescues(of course not able to do dangerous environments) but it's become exciting to travel, and to know the satisfaction of saving an animal in need. I do believe it's taught them there is more out of life plus it's great to have something to involve your whole family in as they each love doing this. Not everyone has to get involved as deep as what we have chosen to do. Some of our associates have chosen one route or the other(rescuing or fostering individually). Just depends on the person themself, how involved they wish to be and what they are comfortable doing. We have a few associates who chose to team up on specific rescues and then there are some individuals who chose only to donate supplies that are needed. No matter how involved a person choses to be, it's a wonderful experience and it really shows what their heart is made of. No regrets for us in this field!! My best friend would tell you I'm easy to get along with and that I am a great friend who always has a shoulder to lean on, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as hard to get to know, hard to get along with and full of attitude. What would surprise everyone at my high school reunion? Well, let's see..Most people thought I would never desire to be a mother led alone a mom of so many children!! Many people thought I might not ever even get around to having kids because of my career ideas. Also, that I have settled down with my high school sweetie and been happily together so long. Kids and a long term relationship was not really goals back then.. So, those who were really close to me years ago and have not been in touch since graduating would probably be shocked!! My favorite ways to blow off steam are mostly relaxation techniques. I listen to soothing music, light aromatherapy scented candles, sometimes I will practice my yoga as well and including deep breathing techniques. If the yoga and breathing doesn't work, I resort to a hot steam to cleanse the body from inside out. Most of the time this is the best solution but if any of these don't work, occassionally they won't , then I know I need to get away for a few days. My husband and I take off to a resort for deep tissue massages,etc.. Not once has this idea never worked out. We come back relaxed and ready to battle whatever tensed us in the beginning. Taking a few minutes daily to help prevent stress and it's horrible side effects is the best way not to end up so stressed. Meditation works wonders and we found out getting in touch with the chiropractor can do wonders for a tensed up back/neck. Doing this once a week at the very least will help from being in knots and kinks. Our children love to go there and have gone from baby up. It helps them relax with everyday school issues,etc.. One other thing I try to do to help prevent getting steamed is to take a few minutes for me time. Reading a good book for just minutes a day will do wonders while it's quiet, you can actually concentrate on the book and not think of other issues going on. I usually do this in a quiet, semi-dark room with very easy lighting, nothing too bright. These are some of my favorite ways to relax and most of the time, they work wonders :)
