Carrie's Story
Life
Current events:
After Highschool I went to college and moved to Arlington after three years. I ended up moving to Michigan in 1998 and starting working in the tech field.
I was married in 2004 in SouthHaven,MI we live in a small town called Maybee, MI, I have 2 boys, and they are being raised on our horse farm "NorthStar SportHorses" and breed, raise, train and compete warmblood and draft crosses. We compete in jumping, dressage, and huntseat primarily. I sometimes professionally handle and ride for western and showmanship/halter classes. We are often traveling with them and competing for most of the year.
I decided to stop working as an engineer when the farm started to become prosperous and now I am working on the farm full-time. We have expanded from just horses to registered Limosine and Angus cross cattle. "being from Texas I couldn't resist". I still manage to take on some outside horses.. mostly quarter-horses and bring them to a competing level in Reining and Western Pleasure.
Professionally, I have worked for some large firms like DaimlerChrysler in the dealership division working as a consultant to the the dealers. IBM as a Systems Engineer, and EMC2. I find being a barn manager, trainer, coach, wife and mother are much more rewarding.
School
I moved to Granbury in '89 from Weatherford and from there attended middles...Expand for more
chool and highschool. I was an active member in choir, band and tennis teams. I could usually be found afterschool running and lifting or at practice
College
I went to school at A&M for summer semester and then decided to go to Tarleton state , it was cheaper! Majored in Pre-Med and CIS.
I attended for 3 1/2 years before moving to Arlington and then Michigan finishing my degree in CIS at Trinity College in the northeast.
Currently looking forward to going back to school for pharmacy in the fall of 2006
Workplace
As all of us go from after school jobs to full-time employment I am not unlike anyone else. I went from waitressing after school in highschool. To college ,bartending and doing photography work and riding cutting horses and roping horses in college to make money. AFter college, I had a few jobs trying to find my nitche. Insurance, technical recruiting and then a job in the tech field in a sales position that earned me a position in sales at a large storage software giant opening another door to Systems Engineering at an even larger firm IBM. AFter layoffs at IBM I went to work for The department of defense in Montgomery , AL to set up a disaster recovery solution for them and came back to Michigan to a job with long time customer Daimler Chrysler. We started our horse business shortly after and I have been running it ever since.
