Cary's Story
I live in Alta Loma, Calif with my wife Amy of 23 years with our 2 children--Molly, 19 and Jonathan, 16. I have 2 older kids from my first marriage, Sharon -who lives in Seattle and is involved in theatre production there, and Brian, who lives in Miami Fl, a supervisor for UPS. Brian has 2 sons, making me a grandfather-- something I never thought of myself as ever being. Quite strange!
I am the Sales Manager at the Toyota dealership in Glendora, Ca-- been here for 15 years, with a total of 31 years in the car business. I attended Cal State Fullerton, and after graduation in 73 went to work with my dad in his construction business. After he developed cancer we closed the business and I got into the car business, where I have been ever since.
Healthwise, I am (still!) overweight.. never could keep it off no matter how many diets I tried. OH WELL-- too late to worry about that now I suppose.
I had lost contact with everyone from LHS, but a few years ago, with the help of the internet, I re-established contact with Blaze Bruney, Ben Rodilitz, and Bob Dotts. We see each other an a regular basis now, each of us taking turns hosting dinners about every 3 months or so. That has been quite rewarding and gratifying, and having friends you have known...Expand for more
since 1960 gives quite a nice flavor to our get-togethers.
Unfortunately over the years, I have lost my mom, dad, sister and younger brother to cancer (my brother Rich passing away this last year)--and having my old friends in my life eased that pain quite a lot.
I am still an avid reader, follow sports (Dodgers, Lakers, USC are my favorite teams)but I work about 60 hours a week so I don't get to attend as many games as I would have liked to.
I traveled quite extensively earlier in my life (Australia, England, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, all over the U.S.)but I developed rheumatoid arthritis so I am not real comfortable on long journeys anymore-- I limit myself to visiting my family in Fl and Seattle. Of course an occasional trip to Las Vegas is not a problem!
I guess thats pretty much it--not a very remarkable story of a life-- never became a pilot, a doctor, a lion tamer or anything terribly exotic, but its been interesting nevertheless. I've met a lot of good people in my life and career, and with a wife, 4 kids, 2 grandkids, its been quite a ride. I would enjoy hearing from any and all LHS Saxons --class of 68, so don't hesitate to write or comment or however this thing works, and I will get back to you!
