Casandra's Story
Life has been good to me. I went to the U of M, taught for a few years, then went to law school. Had interesting, but varied careers: securities examiner, securities broker, Dept of Justice, General Counsel of Reinsurance intermediary where I traveled extensively and set up offices around the world, Mediator, Arbitration Chair for large class action lawsuit, and partnership break ups, securities violations, and now private law firm practice. I had 3 daughters later in life (one at 35, 37 and 40). One is a law prof at U Mich (Leah Litman) and she writes for Wash Post, Atlantic Monthly, etc., and is frequently on CNN, etc. discussing Supreme Court decisions and submits briefs to the Supreme Court challenging issues from DECA to immigration to women’s reproductive rights, Middle daughter (Laine Litman Moljo) is a trader on Wall Street (as is her husband) and now President of a large clearinghouse for traders. nd have blessed me with two grandchildren; a grandson named Manning and a granddaughter named Maeve. Youngest daughter, Lucia Litman, lives in San Fran and is involved in tech startups. She was one of the first employees at Allbirds, they went public, she sold her shares and now does independent consulting for new startups and major companies on creativity and product development. .My husband, Mark Litman, is a patent attorney and he and I still work somewhat and have a law firm. We have been married for 45 years. We used to have a second home in Nevada (we still represent UNLV) and went there every single month for two weeks, twelve months a year. We sold it pre COVID and we cut down on our flying. I still enjoy hiking (did a lot in Southwest), walking, golf, swimming, strategy games, playing with my grandkids, cooking and, of course, eating.. I have no serious regrets about my life and acknowledge that any challenges I faced were relatively minor and lead to where I am today. I am at peace.
