Cassandra's Story

Ok, where to start... Well, first of all, if you look at my Q&A, you might notice that (at times) I only give simple answers when neccesary, otherwise I like to give 10 answers, ex: to answer the question, "What type of person were you in high school?" I had to answer: Misfit, Nerd (includes Dork and Geek), Popular, and "Unique". Most people might think that 3/4 would go together, but not popular. That may be true for many people, but I'm special that way. While I didn't hang out with the most popular people in school, some of my friends seemed to think that I knew everybody, so I guess in that way, I might be able to call myself popular. What can I say? I'm a people person. Oh, and I'll warn you now: When I'm in a typing mood (that doesn't happen very often) like I am now, whatever I write isn't going to be very short. (Be prepared for my life story) Onto the the next topic: My occupation. For several years I was all across the board, mostly lifeguarding, teaching swimming lessons, watching kids in the church nursery, caring for my elderly grandpa after a stroke took his vision and short term memory, peer tutoring, working in a group home for developmentally disabled, teaching skin care, (did I miss anything in there?) and finally, my absolute least favorite: a desk job at Ameriprise Financial. Yes, it was a full time job with decent pay (but not nearly what it should have been), and benefits, and I even needed to get 2 licenses to do my job which must mean that my job had at least a little bit of status, right? But it didn't take me too long to figure out that I didn't want to sit at a desk staring at a computer for the rest of my life (or even a couple years for that matter.) Some of my coworkers had joked that I was going to be a lifer there, and I let them know that the only way that was going to happen was if I died suddenly in the next few months, or if I dove out our 7th story window to my death. As much as I liked most of the people, it wasn't my favorite job I've ever had. (I can't sit on my butt for 40 hours a week) So, I got out of there last April (2008), and helped my friend with her in home day care, and I was a nanny for the summer for 2 kids ages 6 and 8. And now I'm doing childcare full time, working with several families (mostly with kids 3 and under, my favorite ages) on a weekly basis. You know, for the first time in my life I can smile and talk about what I do at the same time. I also discovered Mary Kay several years ago and so far I've only worked it very part time. But now is my time to shine. While I was in Dallas in July for our Mary Kay seminar I decided that I'm earning my free Chevy Malibu, then moving up to my pink Cadillac CTS (or there's a very slight chance that I'll take the DTS instead). Also throughout the year I'm working on earning several gorgeous rings. I don't remember the size off the top of my head, but let's just say they're not small. All of this is laying the foundation for my future National area. I'm sure most of you have no idea what that means, so I'll help you out a bit. My National Sales Director Emeritus, Arlene Lenarz, just retired in January 2005. Since then, as part of her Family Security Program, she has been getting over $47,000.00 every month. Yes you read it right, it's not a typo. Arlene will be getting these checks for 15 years, and even if anything happens to her, the money ge...Expand for more
ts sent to her family. (Oh and did I mention that over the 15 year period she'll be receiving over 8 million dollars?!?!?! Could you get excited about that?) Talk about an amazing company! I'm so excited to be growing my business. Within the next couple years, (before I have kids), this will most likely be my main, if not only job. Well, I think that's probably enough on that topic for now, but if you have questions, please don't be afraid to ask. One thing you might learn about me is that I love kids. But my mom taught me well. The only reason she got married was because she wanted kids and my dad was begging her to mary him (needless to say, they finally got divorced in 2001). Anyways, my mom taught me over the years that I can wait until I'm ready to have kids, so instead of having my own right away, I borrow other people's kids (aka babysitting or working in the church nursery) and then I can give them back at the end of the night. I've learned that once you have kids, you're kinda stuck with them. You can't really decide one day that you don't want them anymore and just give them back, and it's not really socially acceptable to just throw them away either. So on with my story. I got married on June 15, 2007 to the most perfect man on earth (ok, so I might be exaggerating a tiny bit there), but he is the sweetest guy I've ever met, and pretty much perfect.. (Sorry ladies, he's an only child) He can be a bit stubborn at times, but then again, so am I, so I can't really complain. He definately likes to have his routine though. I don't know of a single person that's met him that doesn't like him. His name is Kevin Petry (graduated 1996 from Blaine High School) and he works at the Cub Foods in Champlin as the grocery manager. (If you want to meet him, he's there 6 days a week.) If you want to know how we met, that's another story. But for now, I'll just say it's VERY unique. I don't know of another person that can claim the same thing (or even anything remotely similar for that matter). Kevin and I plan on having kids in a few years, but we have a few things we want to do first. We think 2 is a good number, but maybe 3 if we have twins. Kevin would like at least one boy if possible, and I'd like at least one girl if possible. So far we've talked a little bit about baby names, but most of it's been "We'll never name our kids _______", along with at least one or two real conversations about names that we do like. Right now we have 2 1/2 cats. Yeah, don't ask. We have Precious and Hope that are both indoor cats and are about 3 1/2 years old, and then Batista (probably about 4-6ish) goes in and out several times a day (and only counts as half a cat.) I got to name Precious, (and there's a really cute story about her if you want to ask me), then Kevin named Hope, and named Batista (after the wrestler) several years ago. Kevin would like a puppy at some point (but not while we still have our cats. 2 1/2 pets is more than enough for me) I wouldn't mind puppies as long as they're house broken so they don't make messes all over the house. Suprisingly, I can't think of anything else to write about now, but if you have questions or want to know more, feel free to ask away. (hey did you know that they give you over 20,000 characters to write with? Maybe I could write my entire life story here. I guess that means I should keep going then. JK)
