Reylene's Story
Life
Since high school graduation I gave birth to my first daughter, who is now 33, completed some college, received dialysis in early 1982, received a kidney from my brother through a transplant later on that year, finally married in 1986 to a wonderful man, and had one son and two more daughters (now 24, 22, & 18).
I retired from my full time job as an Administrative Assistant (financial industry) in 1989 to raise my kids (which I think is the most important job in the whole world), and I home schooled three of my four children for five years. My youngest graduated from high school in 2012 at age 16.
In 1991, I made the most important decision of my life; I gave my heart to the Lord, Jesus Christ and He gave me a new life. That year I also started a new career in the fitness industry teaching prenatal fitness.
My husband and I purchased another home in 2005, in 2006 I purchased a Jazzercise center where I helped many people reach their fitness goals and started another part time job as an instructional aide in 2007, then sold the Jazzercise center in 2008 because of my declining health. In December 2008, I had a second kidney transplant. The kidney came from my younger brother. Unfortunately, the new ...Expand for more
kidney did not survive due to lack of blood flow.
On June 21, 2010, I received a cadaver kidney and had my third kidney transplant. This was very unexpected, as I was waiting for Danita Madero (class of 79 classmate) to go through testing to see if she would be a good match because she wanted to give me one of her kidneys. I am thrilled to report that the cadaver kidney has been such a blessing and is working perfectly in my body. It is working so well, that all of my other maladies associated with kidney disease have disappeared.
Workplace
I've been a fitness instructor for the past 22 years. In 2005, after passing another certification, I became part of Jazzericse, Inc. which is an International company. Currently, I have my own franchise at Jazzercise and teach classes five to seven times per week. I also fill in for other instructors as needed. I truly love what I do. Not only do I stay in shape, but I help others reach their fitness goals which is the most rewarding part of my job.
Part time I work with middle school aged children at a school close to my home. What a blessing it is to touch so many young people's lives. It's amazing how wonderful teenagers are when you really get to know them.
