Catherine's Story
After graduating high school (barely) I attended Faulkner State Jr College for a couple of years then transferred to Troy State University where I earned a bachelor in science in social and rehabilitation services. Then after working for a few years I got married and had my daughter and my life changed! I became a stay at home mom for a few years and traveled around the country and Canada with the Navy. I returned to school again in Vermont and earned an Associates Degree in Nursing and am now a registered nurse. I have a certification in Gerontology and am a certified Developmental Disabilities Nurse and work for a community mental health agency. My job is the best job ever, I have the respect of my peers and co-workers and the satisfaction of knowing that I really am making a difference in the lives ...Expand for more
of my patients.
I divorced in 1995 while in Vermont and here I stayed, my true home! I love this state because it is like I should have been born here! The weather is mild, the scenery is gorgeous and the people are very friendly and accepting. I have many wonderful friends and job responsibility and satisfaction. Yes there are still hippies living today, many of them are in Vermont.
My daughter has two children of her own now and her claim to fame was being part of the invasion force when we invaded Iraq the second time. That was the most horrible time for a mother to have her child in a war zone but she survived and has matured as a result of that experience. I love my grandchildren so very much but they live in Texas so I don't get to see them often. Thank goodness for web cams and the internet!
